Submitted by crochetdiva on Wed, 2010-02-17 11:14.Hello crochet today, i am a newcomer and a beginner in the world of crochet and i am fascinated!!!! I'm happy to be a member of your magazine and can't wait for my first issue to arrive. However, i'm working on a crochet pattern for a border that has what looks like a plus sign or a cross, actually there's the plus sign and then the asterisk right next to it. can you please advise me on what this symbol means and what i'm supposed to do?
Chart?
Submitted by J-Thorn on Wed, 2010-02-17 14:07.Are you working from a chart or written pattern? A chart should come with a symbol key, but, barring that, I would have to guess that the "plus sign" stands for a single crochet (usually represented with a + or x on a graph) and the "asterisk" stands for a slip stitch (usually represented with a period in a graph). If you are working with a written pattern, the "plus sign" and "asterisk" could be indicating repeats in the pattern or directing you to look at a note on the stitch indicated.
Let me know more about what you're working with, and I'll try to help more.
