A three-sided twist on the traditional granny square, triangle motifs fit together to make this classic throw geometrically modern.

spring fever glovettes feb/mar 2007
Submitted by llong19 on Tue, 2010-02-09 21:20.I hate to change the subject but I posted this on Brett's blog and haven't gotten a response. You seem to be the only one who responds to comments or questions. Maybe you can help me with the glovettes. I cannot find a source for the 3/4 inch belt clasps for these gloves. Does anyone know where I can get them so I can finish my gloves? Thanks
Clasps
Submitted by J-Thorn on Tue, 2010-02-16 15:34.You could also look on the Ravelry.com site to see what others who have completed this pattern used. An account on Ravelry is free and a nice way to keep up with all of your projects, yarns, etc. and compare with others to get advice, compare notes, etc.
sorry

thanks
Submitted by phoenixdragon on Mon, 2010-02-08 18:22.Thank you for watching the posts! I am leaning toward the chunky option and found some on sale :-)
There are just so many things to watch for when substituting yarn ... I never seem to do things exactly the way patterns describe (sometimes by choice sometimes by necessity) :-} . I guess I just need to be real careful with what I choose - at least it isn't a fitted garment!
Also, in looking for yarns I also tried Ravelry ... great comments help to sort out soft, pilly and various other issues ... and there are lots of project pictures with the yarn so you can 'see' how it looks. It was also a great help.
yes! Ravelry rocks
Submitted by erin on Tue, 2010-02-09 09:22.It's so useful--you can find some amazing examples of great color choices + yarn choices . . . and you can also find hideous ones so you know what to avoid :) It's such a great tool as well as social place.
Yarn Substitutions
Submitted by phoenixdragon on Sat, 2010-02-06 14:40.I love this design but I am having trouble finding colors (e.g. the magenta/orchid suggested isn't available) AND even better I would like to find a softer feeling yarn. Any suggestions for substitutions?
Also, if I did this in a chunkier weight yarn and a larger hook ... I'd like the larger size but would the pattern still work? THANKS!

Submitted by erin on Mon, 2010-02-08 08:31.There are so many different types of yarn out there--go to the store and just touch them all until you find one you like! It's such a personal decision. The yarn called for is a basic worsted weight, and you could substitute many other types for it. You may end up with an overall more drapey finished blanket--but that's not a bad thing!
Working it in chunkier yarn and a larger hook would still work, of course--you'd get the right shapes--but the blanket as a whole would be larger and would drape differently. But it's a great idea!
