Sparkly Snowflakes, page 34
There is an error in the stitch count at the end of round 3. It should read:

12 cl, 6 sl st, and 18 ch-3 sps.

LITTLE DRUMMER SET, PAGE 40
The designer's name was mistyped. It should read Sally Byrne.

CAPELET SWING CARDI, PAGE 52
Holes can appear when working the short rows. Here is a tip for closing them:

When working the first (sc, dc) into unworked sts of the short rows, first insert the hook through the "side" of previous short rows, then into the unworked st, then work the sc.

Snowflake Earrings, Page 56
The finished measurements for the doily earring is incorrect. It should read 1¼" (3cm).

CAPELET SWING CARDI

Lesson learned - always check for corrects BEFORE starting a project! LOL! I'll be going back and closing holes...

Anyway...I finished the capelet and am moving on to the body of the sweater. I hooked the first row (in the scallops) and now am having problems visualizing the rest as I complete the second row. The body doesn't go all the way to the ends of the capelet? The instructions had me joing the first row of the body in the first scallop, and the last sc in the last scallop. That leaves an empty stitch at the beginning and the end (in other words, the capelet looks slightly wider than the body). The picture is no help, as that is exactly where the botton loop is for the second button down.

Hopefully I am reading this wrong. Please help! :)

candyland sweater

I have had trouble with patterns before but this one is killing me
I finally got past the yoke then onto the fancy stitch let's put it
this way I fudged it and now it seems to be working
really if I hadn't promised this to a lady at work I wouldn't be
doing it I have worked other patterns in this magazine and never
had trouble

Sparkly Snowflake

Help, I am currently making the sparkly snowflake afghan and the picot joins are just not working. I've counted again and again. I can get the first seven picot joins to match but when I do the second picot joins (on two and three side join) it ends two before the corner on the motif I am joining to. I've counted and I have the correct number of picots on all motifs.

Candyland Sweater Corrections

I just started the adorable Candyland sweater and thought I was going to pull my hair out when I came to R2 of the yoke and realized that my stitch count didn't match up to the pattern stitch count, no matter how many times or different ways I added it up. Then I got the "brilliant" idea to check the website for possible errors or corrections and sure enough there they were. I appreciate the corrections, but now, after reading posts about sleeve issues, I'm a little concerned! I hope it turns out well in the end. Thanks again for posting the corrections, but I sure hope help will be available if I have problems with the sleeves.

Stuck Again! (Candyland Sweater)

Can someone who has successfully completed the Candyland sweater from the Nov/Dec issue contact me or reply to this post? I'm stuck on the set up row for the fancy stitch pattern. It calls for 109 HDC stitches to be worked into the previous row but there are only 103 stitches available in the previous row (row 7 of the yoke). So the pattern is off by 6. Is there a typo in the instructions?

finished - with alterations (candyland sweater)

i too thought this sweater was so sweet - and brought the magazine along with yarn on our holiday trip to thailand. then is spent 2 consecutive nights on that mistake in the pattern, ready to pull my hair out, i finally figured out which part was the typo. argh!
that being said, about the sleeves, i finished one sleeve and it was really wonky (and i think not due to my work) the stitches became quite bunchy and looked odd when put on my daughter. i pulled out all threads, and decided to keep it sleeveless and save myself the headache of figuring that one out. it actually looks quite darling without the sleeves as the cap sets on the shoulder with shells around.
i'd say that's the way to go.

Candyland Sweater - Fancy Stitch Pattern Set Up Row

Hi Cherryblossom,

I'm no where near the sleeves yet, still stuck on the yoke. Specifically, I'm stuck on the set up row for the fancy stitch pattern. Did you run into any problems there? I have 103 stitches from the previous row (row 7) but the fancy stitch set up row adds up to 109 stitches. There are only 103 stitches to work into, so I'm short 6 stiches.

yoke to fancy stitch

hi MizJ

i pulled out the instructions and did crochet math! ;-)

-you are making the pattern for a 1 year old, correct?-

after row 7, you will have 103 stitches, which you do. so that's right.

the only thing i can think is - did you do row 8? that's the finishing row for the yoke for 1 year old.

if that's not it then i'm not sure what else, because your stitch count sounds correct. (maybe just move onto the fancy stitch pattern and see how you go?! ;-) )

hope that helps!

Candlyland Sweater: Problem solved!!!!! :-)

Hi Cherry, thank you so much for getting back to me. I think I just figured out what I've been doing wrong. I've been working the instruction that says "0 times" for 6months instead of skipping it and going to the very last instruction of the set up row which would give me the 103 I need. I feel so silly!!! LOL!!! But thanks again for attempting to help me out, I really and truly appreciate it :-)
