behind the scenes: meet sugar!

When we put together a photo shoot, we try to think about the overall look—who is the person wearing the clothes? What else will he/she be wearing? What kind of lifestyle does he/she lead?

For January/February's story featuring projects for men, the kind of man we needed was one with a dog. Of course, not everyone who wears these garments and accessories must own a pooch, but we wanted a dog on the photo shoot with us, so it became a necessity. You understand, I'm sure. :)

My friend's mutt Sugar, a sweetheart of a dog, stepped up. After allowing us all some time for petting and scritches behind the ears, she got right to work. She took the job very seriously, sitting patiently, walking up and down the street over and over and over again, and only getting distracted once or twice—squirrel! Sugar's mom brought plenty of treats to keep her happy—with a handful of snacks hidden in his palm, the male model quickly won Sugar over.

There are four projects for men: a sweater, a scarf, a blanket, and a pair of socks. You'll see Sugar in the next issue along with the blanket and sweater. (In fact, you can see a sneak peek of the blanket in the shot above!) All that work tired her out!

Sugar

What a sweetheart! Mutts are the best. We have nine dogs right now, and only the beagle and the pit bull are purebreds.

Bun covers for Ballerina

Hi - I just picked up the Sept/Oct issue (I will be subscribing soon) and saw the Lacy river rocks (Pg 37 - 42). My grand-daughter has asked me to make her a bun cover for when she is dancing and I have no idea how to do this. It feels like these rock covers could be modified to do the trick, but I'm not sure.
Can anyone advise me? Do I need to add elastic or anything? Are there patterns specifically for bun covers (snoods?) anywhere.

I hope someone can help, I'd love to surprise her for Christmas.

Thanks,
Pam

Should Work

While there are patterns out there written for snoods (might just take a little searching of the web to find what you need), I don't see why an adaptation of this pattern wouldn't work. After looking back at the pattern, it seems like all you would have to do is adjust for the size of the bun. I would suggest using SC to add an elastic hair band after the last round just to ad flexibilty and security when being put on/worn. You could also just include some decorative hair pins with your gift to help secure it. Hope this helps. Homemade gifts are the best!

Sugar is cute

Love the phote of Sugar. I'm new to this site and I'm loving it. Since you had Sugar pose, why don't you put in a patter for a doggie sweater. I'm sure a lot of us would love it; I know I would.

I have enjoyed your site thus far and look forward to receiving my subscription.

Thanks again.
